How Many Calories in a Glass of Wine?

Are You Drinking Calories?

Many people tend to forget about drinks when it comes to counting calories or losing weight.  But you can drink just as many calories in glasses of wine if you are not careful and ruin all your great work.

So, if you are wondering just how many calories in a glass of wine?  Then the answer is:

One x  3.5 ounce glass of wine = 75 calories on average.

Each brand of wine will make a difference of a few calories either way, but on average 75 calories is a good figure to use for most wines.

The problem is, if you can have one x  3.5 ounce glass of wine with dinner, then it is not likely going to break your diet regime, but many of the glasses you are seeing in restaurants or at your friend’s dinner parties and barbeques are the size of small fish bowls!  No wonder you are going through those bottles so fast, or are feeling tipsy after “one glass”

.

So, when the scale doesn’t move at the end of the week and you had a few of those “fish bowls” and think of that as ONE glass, then you know where the problem is!  Especially if you have been very good with your food intake and exercise, wine can sneak in there and quickly add liquid calories.

On top of that size of the glass, is the fact that there are usually munchies to go along with the glass of wine.  So, it can be hard to control your calorie intake this way.

Now I am all in favour of keeping the things you love, (read my own story on the home page)  so if you really must have a glass of wine, why not make it sparkling by adding soda water to it?  This will now give you the volume, so that you are not likely to ask for a refill.

If that doesn’t appeal to you, then consider using an original sized wine glass or simply measure out 3 to 4 ounces.

If you add up about 6 glasses of wine a week, try and get rid of 3 of them and save the one night you want to kick back for 2 or 3 glasses at that friends barbeque, so that it doesn’t ruin the entire week of work.

You just need to get creative.  You don’t have to cut everything out.  So, ask how many calories are in a glass of wine, find out more information about the wines you like to drink.  Maybe it is as simple as changing brands.

So, when you are working out your diet and health plans, don’t forget about the liquid calories!  Also see: How many calories are in an apple? and How many calories should I eat to lose weight and how many calories or in a pound to help you andcalorie calculators  for more simple ways to lose weight.  You can do it!
